No. As a doula I am there for Physical & Emotional support, to provide you with the information you need to make the best information based decision, & to help you advocate for yourself and advocate for your wishes.

HOW DO YOU DIFFER FROM A MIDWIFE?
¿QUE ES LA DIFERENCIA ENTRE UNA PARTERA Y UNA DOULA?
A midwife and a doula have similar philosophies and views about the human body and the birth process, we have different roles. A midwife has a medical degree and keeps mom and baby safe, they do the medical part, I am a non-medical birth professional that supports you physically and emotionally.
Una partera y una doula tienen filosofías y puntos de vista similares sobre el cuerpo humano y el proceso de nacimiento pero tenemos diferentes trabajos. Una partera tiene un título médico y mantiene a la mamá y al bebé a salvo, ellos hacen la parte médica, yo soy un profesional de partos sin médico que te apoya físicamente y emocionalmente.

I am there to help your partner, your partner is your number one supporter. I will work with your partners to get them involved by helping them know what to do, keeping them engaged and informed about the process. Your partner and I work as a team to support you and keep you feeling comfortable and safe.
Estoy ahí para ayudarle a tu pareja, tu pareja es y deberia ser tu apoyo número uno. Trabajaré con tus socios para involucrarlos ayudándolos a saber qué hacer, manteniéndolos comprometidos e informados sobre el proceso. Tu pareja y yo trabajamos en equipo para apoyarte y mantenerte cómoda y segura.
ARE DOULAS ONLY FOR NON-MEDICATED BIRTHS?
¿LAS DOULAS SON SÓLO PARA PARTOS SIN MEDICADOS?
Nope! I support births of all kinds; hospital, home, birth center, medicated, non-medicated, cesarean sections, ect. I support YOU in whatever way you choose to bring your baby into the world.
¡No! Apoyo los nacimientos de todo tipo; hospital, hogar, centro de maternidad, medicado, no medicado, cesáreas, etc. Te apoyare en cualquier forma que elijas para traer a tu bebé al mundo.
